Introducing some new critters! Here’s a few of the pets available currently. There’s going to be a lot more on the way. Each pet starts life as a lowly, and super cute Nomlet. Then, by feeding them special recipes you discover around PuddingDale and Ambrosia Bay you can evolve them into their ultimate (and still very cute) forms.
It’s been a busy month with some fun new additions! I I finally have a system to represent endless sea which merges nicely with the horizon. No more falling off the edge of the map! With this nailed down, I’m diving into designing the islands of Ambrosia Bay where a lot of the action takes place.
Each of these islands has a theme and the further you venture the weirder they become.
The lobster boat received a makeover and now glides through the water like a dream. Imagine sailing through Ambrosia Bay with a jaunty shanty that makes you tap your toes.
In other news I’ve been experimenting with designs for some of the naughty nomlings.
AND LASTLY
We now have an abundance of slightly enigmatic sheep! Who knows what they are thinking? Could it be important? What do they get up to when no-one’s looking? IS IT A FRONT FOR SOMETHING MUCH DEEPER? These questions and more may, or may not, be answered in my next dev log.
Help May investigate an order of Medieval gastronauts! Uncover the ancient secrets of the Knights Of Nom and unleash the power of fine cuisine!
For a while now in my spare time I’ve been working on The Knights Of Nom. This game has evolved greatly with four different titles while I was noodling over different ideas.
Game dev can involve a great deal of stress which, I personally think, is anathema to having the insight and inspiration to create a game that is FUN. So I’ve been taking my sweet time & enjoying the ride.
There are features about this game I like a lot – the lobster boats, cute pets, and TONS coding which gives me the satisfaction of knowing things under the hood are being structured in a robust, logical way that’s not going to make me question my sanity later on.
The Knights of Nom is certainly a game that doesn’t take itself seriously and that’s the point. There are more features on the way including new recipes, feasts, characters, pets and locations.
Also planned are bad pets! Yep, think pokemon battles but different, with a very distinct twist. Maybe food fights or something 😀
